# Quick Edit Recoil Assist & Bloom Assist

You can apply **Recoil Assist** adjustments to your **ACTIVE Weapon Slot** with your controller (also **Bloom Assist** if available in the Gamepack). Recoil Assist can be applied to a **GENERIC Fire Mode**, or in the case of a Gamepack with weapon-specific **Optimized Recoil Assist**, you can adjust for recoil differences from weapon attachments, game updates, or unsupported settings.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Remember that Recoil & Bloom Assist settings are **per** Weapon Slot.

## **1. Getting Started**

<figure><img src="/files/EoZ7m9C4dcmsd1t0Vcxd" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Assessing Your Game

{% hint style="warning" %}
First, it is important to understand what **Recoil Assist** is. When recoil kicks in, this M.O.D. (Macro On Demand) can assist you with keeping your aim steady. As a macro, it **does not** and **cannot** remove any recoil from the game. It simply helps you to manage that recoil effectively so you can focus your efforts on your target.
{% endhint %}

:warning: ***Before you get started**,* assess the type of recoil your game relies on:

* Vertical recoil where your weapon drifts upwards in pretty much a straight line can usually be managed with "**Recoil Assist Vertical Adjust**".
* Horizontal recoil where your weapon drifts to a single side can usually be managed with "**Recoil Assist Horizontal Adjust**".
* Recoil that shifts in strength throughout the length of time firing, often with zigzag-like recoil patterns, **cannot** be fully managed with **generic** Recoil Assist. For this, we have game-specific, weapon-specific, "**Optimized Recoil Assist**" in certain **dedicated Gamepacks**. You can even fine-tune the "**Pattern Strength**" of the Recoil Assist in such packs.
* Randomized recoil behaviors and bloom (bullet spread) **cannot** benefit from Recoil Assist.
* Bloom can **only** be improved upon by reducing fire rate, which can be done with GENERIC Fire: "**Bloom Assist**" & "**Bloom Assist Delay**" in "**Shooter**" and other Gamepacks that include this feature.

### Positioning Yourself

Once you are in-game :video\_game:, position yourself & aim at a wall :bricks: or static target :dart:, ensuring that you have plenty of ammo & space to compare recoil. Switch to the in-game weapon :gun: that you will be using first & ensure the Weapon Slot that you intend to adjust is **ACTIVE**, or highlighted on the Dashboard.

***

***If the wrong Weapon Slot*** is **ACTIVE**, and if you are unfamiliar with [**Weapon Swap**](/horizon/manuals/gamepack/weaponswapmode.md) Controller Shortcuts, <img src="/files/FTIPMMo2lFVsDuBcyTX7" alt="" data-size="line">tap the appropriate Weapon Slot **once** to make it **ACTIVE**:

**Directional Quick Edit** is in every GAMEPACK with Recoil Assist. ***If the following setting is present**,* ensure that it is toggled to **Directional** for now:

{% endhint %}

With **Directional Quick Edit**, you can adjust the direction of the Recoil Assist pull with the ***D**-**PAD*** by <img src="/files/FTIPMMo2lFVsDuBcyTX7" alt="" data-size="line">***TAPPING*** (precise) or <img src="/files/WKxGM5nEvfMbZOqHLzmA" alt="" data-size="line">***HOLDING*** (faster) the appropriate direction. ## **3. Vertical Adjust**

<figure><img src="/files/EoZ7m9C4dcmsd1t0Vcxd" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

**It is wise to focus on vertical adjustment first**:

{% endhint %}

<figure><img src="/files/n1hXc4rkEVnRhEinN7AO" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

## **5. Reset**

<figure><img src="/files/EoZ7m9C4dcmsd1t0Vcxd" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

***If you get into a mess**,* at any point in **Quick Edit Mode**, you can opt to reset your adjustments to default. This reset will only affect the **ACTIVE** Weapon Slot:

| To reset, <img src="/files/WKxGM5nEvfMbZOqHLzmA" alt="" data-size="line">***HOLD*** <img src="/files/aSMRrH3Uhw9hqJ6En8Si" alt="" data-size="original">***LEFT STICK BUTTON*** until you feel 2 heavy rumbles. | <img src="/files/gAi6CBOrxSIsyHI623Wo" alt="" data-size="original"> |

<figure><img src="/files/n1hXc4rkEVnRhEinN7AO" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

## **6. Exit Quick Edit**

<figure><img src="/files/EoZ7m9C4dcmsd1t0Vcxd" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Focus on fine tuning to **acceptable** results, as your weapon may have some random recoil & that **CANNOT** be fixed:

<img src="/files/8rqi3itTbSkMtK67hoRA" alt="" data-size="original">

| *<mark style="color:green;">**If you are satisfied with your results**</mark>,* you can <img src="/files/FTIPMMo2lFVsDuBcyTX7" alt="" data-size="line">***PRESS*** <img src="/files/7PMXIZGEFjyscPwNT8ov" alt="" data-size="original">***RIGHT STICK BUTTON*** to exit Quick Edit Mode. | <img src="/files/dlesTM39LiNlLxcjXmUF" alt="" data-size="original"> |

{% hint style="info" %}
At this point, you are essentially done with tailoring Recoil Assist for this Weapon Slot to suit your current in-game weapon. Feel free to repeat the process for your another Weapon Slot & in-game weapon. ***But what if you are unhappy with your adjustments**?*
{% endhint %}

<figure><img src="/files/n1hXc4rkEVnRhEinN7AO" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

## **7. Pattern Strength**

<figure><img src="/files/EoZ7m9C4dcmsd1t0Vcxd" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

***If the Weapon Slot is assigned to a Supported Weapon as is possible in several dedicated GAMEPACKs**, **& you are adjusting Optimized Recoil Assist with&#x20;**<mark style="color:red;">**unsuccessful results**</mark>,* there is another option available in toggling to **Pattern Strength Quick Edit**.

***

**Pattern Strength** suits a weapon best when its recoil pattern has maintained its base shape; just shrunken or enlarged. This can be the case with certain weapon attachments & unsupported settings, or after a game update has only made slight alterations. Ensure that everything is set up the way that you want it **before** you try Pattern Strength.

***

You can toggle the setting from the Dashboard, or your controller. While toggling from the app will leave existing Recoil Assist values alone, values are **NOT** interchangeable between Directional & Pattern Strength. Therefore, toggling from your controller will reset them for your convenience.

| <p></p><p><img src="/files/gQKasstaip9gLSUeCZDo" alt="" data-size="original"></p> | <img src="/files/Tq2TOpGS89Vbc9YphPuu" alt="" data-size="original"> |
| --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------- |

To toggle from your controller, **while in Quick Edit Mode**, <img src="/files/FTIPMMo2lFVsDuBcyTX7" alt="" data-size="line">***TAP*** <img src="/files/JxAT4h3o8MUhtW60jTHO" alt="" data-size="line">***MENU**.* Besides being visible on the app, when the Weapon Slot is set to Pattern Strength, the pulsing rumble will change to bursts of rumble.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Now, instead of applying a directional pull, you will be adjusting the strength of your weapon's existing **Optimized Recoil Assist Pattern**.
{% endhint %}

***

From here, while testing Recoil Assist, pay attention to the vertical direction of your aim:

***

***If your aim is drifting downwards**,* **Vertical Recoil Assist** is likely **overcorrecting** or **too strong**. Use <img src="/files/ztkxNctN3osdbOzbEo4y" alt="" data-size="line">***UP D*****-*****PAD*** to decrease it towards a negative value <img src="/files/NRkjp7QC8VowY4Oppzjh" alt="" data-size="original">.

***

***If your aim is drifting upwards**,* **Vertical** Recoil Assist is likely **undercorrecting** or **too weak**. Use <img src="/files/Igs4rH9EHIMWaGu3B9lc" alt="" data-size="line">***DOWN D**-**PAD*** to increase it towards a positive value <img src="/files/MK1RmXqSOEHlTh8Yln1X" alt="" data-size="line">.

***

When you are done with vertical adjustment, you can tackle horizontal adjustment with trial & error:

***

Use <img src="/files/NDNZLOYoDmE3IzE9oVsi" alt="" data-size="line">***RIGHT D-PAD*** to increase **Horizonal** Recoil Assist towards a positive value <img src="/files/MK1RmXqSOEHlTh8Yln1X" alt="" data-size="line"> to see if the horizontal drifting gets worse. If it does, use <img src="/files/7bpZiJ7hhGGyJ1JzROKw" alt="" data-size="line">***LEFT D**-**PAD*** to decrease it towards a negative value <img src="/files/NRkjp7QC8VowY4Oppzjh" alt="" data-size="original">. Try to find the middle ground where horizontal drift is minimal.

***

You can save time by <img src="/files/WKxGM5nEvfMbZOqHLzmA" alt="" data-size="line">***HOLDING*** the ***D**-**PAD**,* or adjusting in increments of **5**.

***

| *<mark style="color:green;">**When you are satisfied with your results**</mark>,* you can <img src="/files/FTIPMMo2lFVsDuBcyTX7" alt="" data-size="line">***PRESS*** <img src="/files/7PMXIZGEFjyscPwNT8ov" alt="" data-size="original">***RIGHT STICK BUTTON*** to exit Quick Edit Mode. | <img src="/files/8rqi3itTbSkMtK67hoRA" alt="" data-size="original"> |
| ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------- |

{% hint style="info" %}
At this point, you are essentially done with tailoring Recoil Assist for this Weapon Slot to suit your current in-game weapon. Feel free to repeat the process for your another Weapon Slot & in-game weapon.
{% endhint %}

<figure><img src="/files/n1hXc4rkEVnRhEinN7AO" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

## **In-game Aim Assist**

<figure><img src="/files/EoZ7m9C4dcmsd1t0Vcxd" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

While you are firing at an enemy, in-game aim assist can slightly interfere with Recoil Assist. How much of a problem this will be if at all, largely depends on your game. If you find this difficult to deal with, you can make tweaks such as ever-so-slightly over increasing Vertical Recoil Assist, or for a GAMEPACK with Optimized Recoil Assist, [**Recoil Assist Mode**](/horizon/manuals/gamepack/quickedit/recoilassistmode.md) features solutions to mitigate the issue.

<figure><img src="/files/n1hXc4rkEVnRhEinN7AO" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

## **Bloom Assist Delay**

<figure><img src="/files/EoZ7m9C4dcmsd1t0Vcxd" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

***If the GENERIC Fire**:* *"**Bloom Assist**", a feature that slows your fire rate to potentially improve accuracy when you are stationary or slightly moving, **is available to use in the GAMEPACK & assigned to the ACTIVE Weapon Slot**,* its Horizontal Recoil Assist Adjust will be replaced with "**Bloom Assist Delay**":

***

**While in Quick Edit Mode**, be either **stationary** or **slightly moving**; ideally **crouched** or **in cover**, then:

***If while in the above position**, **your weapon is firing so quickly that your crosshairs expand**, **causing inaccuracy at range**,* use the <img src="/files/NDNZLOYoDmE3IzE9oVsi" alt="" data-size="line">***RIGHT*** direction on the D-Pad to increase the delay between shots, slowing your fire rate :arrow\_right:.

***

***If while in the above position**, **your weapon is firing too slowly after adjustment**,* use the <img src="/files/7bpZiJ7hhGGyJ1JzROKw" alt="" data-size="line">***LEFT*** direction on the D-Pad to decrease the delay between shots, speeding your fire rate back up :arrow\_left:.

{% hint style="danger" %}
Be aware that at low values other than 0, Bloom Assist will have a Rapid Fire effect on a Semi-Automatic Weapon.

***

Bloom Assist utilizes strict timings & our team **DOES NOT** condone or advise using it in any game that is prohibiting or actively monitoring for macro use.
